About the role
Are you passionate about helping communities take action for nature, water and the environment?
Cambridgeshire ACRE is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Community Environment Officer to support the delivery of environmental projects across Cambridgeshire. This is an exciting opportunity to work with volunteers, parish councils, community groups and partner organisations to create lasting benefits for both people and nature.
We are a rural community development charity that believes local people are best placed to shape the future of their communities. Across Cambridgeshire, communities are taking action to improve local environments, protect biodiversity, care for watercourses and strengthen resilience to environmental challenges. We are looking for someone who can help turn that enthusiasm into practical action.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering environmental programmes and projects across Cambridgeshire
- Supporting and developing volunteers involved in environmental activities
- Working with parish councils, community groups and partner organisations to deliver local environmental improvements
- Organising community engagement activities, volunteering opportunities and practical environmental projects
- Supporting projects relating to biodiversity, water environments and community stewardship
- Gathering evidence of impact and helping to communicate the difference our work makes
You will be a confident communicator and relationship builder who enjoys working with people and communities. You will bring experience of project delivery, volunteer engagement and partnership working, alongside an interest in environmental issues and community-led action.
We offer a supportive and flexible working environment, opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a visible difference in rural communities across Cambridgeshire.
This post is funded until 31 March 2027. Cambridgeshire ACRE has a strong track record of securing funding for environmental programmes and there may be opportunities beyond the initial contract period, subject to future funding being secured.
