Prevent & CONTEST Awareness for Community Buildings | Training
About this event
This session will support trustees to understand relevant considerations for them in relation to CONTEST, the UK Government’s overarching Counter Terrorism strategy.
Delivered by Mark Woolner, Prevent Awareness Officer at Cambridgeshire County Council, the session will include an overview of what to do if you identify someone who is susceptible to radicalisation and how they can be supported through Prevent, as well as guidance in relation to undertaking proportionate checks on potential bookings for venue hire/events involving unknown/external speakers so as not to inadvertently provide a platform to those wishing to promote extremist views.
There will be a presentation, plus the opportunity to consider scenarios and ask questions. The session will also touch upon responsibilities for trustees under the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, more commonly referred to as Martyn’s Law.
Please note that this session will not be recorded at the speaker’s request due to the sensitive nature of the content.
