Boots on the ground in Little Downham
Chief Executive, Hayley Neal writes:
“On Thursday I pulled on my wellies and headed to Dunham View in Little Downham to visit the new rural exception site currently under construction. It was a muddy building site, but also something much more hopeful.”
“The event was busy, with older residents, young families and working households all coming along to view the homes and speak to the district housing team about joining the waiting list. Every conversation came back to the same thing: people want to stay in Little Downham, just in a home that suits them better.”
“There are 39 new affordable homes being delivered, including homes for affordable rent and shared ownership. I was struck by the number of level access properties, the thoughtful inclusion of renewable energy and how well the development fits into the village. These are good quality homes that sit comfortably within the existing community.”
“If you would like to find out more about how rural exception sites work and how we support local communities to enable local people to stay in the places they love, visit our rural housing pages.”
