New water-saving campaign launched in partnership with Anglian Water

Keep an eye out for handy tips on saving water (and reducing water bills) from us on our Facebook/Instagram accounts and in our newsletters over the next few months.

This is part of a three-month campaign to spread water-saving messages; a tricky sell after so much winter rain but we are up for the challenge!

The campaign is being delivered in partnership with Anglian Water and focusses on Ely and its surrounding villages, but the messages are relevant to all. With a predicted long-term reduction in summer rain and increasing demands on our water supply, the need to reduce water wastage is paramount. Anglian Water is taking action to address this need, for example by building new reservoirs (in Fenland and in Lincolnshire), a network of pipelines to capture water from the north/move water around and smart meter roll out. But we can all play a part – and luckily reducing wastage also means reducing our water bills. For example, reducing your shower time by just one minute could save £100 in energy and water every year. Anglian Water has even made a playlist of 5 minute songs to shower to on Spotify to help you reduce your shower time.

The Cambridgeshire ACRE team will be out and about providing advice and free gifts at the Greener Together Event at Burwell on 15 May and the Ely Open Gardens day on 2 June, plus other community groups and events.
