My Journey as a Digital Marketing Degree Apprentice with Cambridgeshire ACRE

With it being National Apprenticeship Week this week, I wanted to take the opportunity to share my experience as a Digital Marketing Degree Apprentice at Cambridgeshire ACRE while studying at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU). My journey so far has been both exciting and rewarding, giving me the perfect balance between hands-on experience and academic learning.

Why I Chose a Degree Apprenticeship

Choosing a degree apprenticeship was a no-brainer for me. The opportunity to gain real-world experience while working towards a Bachelors in Digital Marketing was appealing. Rather than just learning the theories, I get to apply them directly in the workplace, which has fast-tracked my development in digital marketing.

At Cambridgeshire ACRE, I’m involved in a wide range of marketing activities, from managing social media campaigns to creating content and analysing website performance. It’s incredibly satisfying to see the impact of my work in real time and know that I’m contributing to an organisation that supports communities across the county.

The Benefits of Apprenticeship Learning

One of the best aspects of being a degree apprentice is the dual learning experience. Through ARU, I receive structured learning every month that deepens my understanding of digital marketing as a whole. Meanwhile, my role at Cambridgeshire ACRE allows me to put this theory into practice when applicable, which helps (and has helped) my learning and building my confidence.

Challenges and Growth

Like any learning journey, there have been challenges along the way. Balancing work and study requires lots of time management, and I’ve had to learn how to prioritise tasks as and when they appear. These challenges I have overcome have definitely changed me for the better as a person, both professionally and personally.

Advice for Future Apprentices

If you’re considering an apprenticeship, my biggest piece of advice would be to embrace every opportunity. Say yes to everything, even if it is something you have limited knowledge or experience in; ask questions, and make the most of the support available to you. The experience and skills you gain will be invaluable in shaping your career.

I’m proud to reflect on how much I’ve learned and grown in my role at Cambridgeshire ACRE. My apprenticeship has given me a strong foundation for a successful future, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next.
