As the Village Agent for Fenland I focus on helping rural Fenland residents feel safer, more confident and less alone

People I work with gain practical answers at moments of uncertainty—whether that’s staying independent at home, navigating caring responsibilities, or finding stability during crisis. The outcome is simple but powerful: greater confidence, improved wellbeing and a clearer path forward, even when circumstances feel overwhelming.

I deliver this support by listening first and responding with practical guidance that fits each person’s reality. I help residents navigate services—from mobility aids and transport support to bereavement and respite care—building trusted relationships and focusing on what will make the biggest immediate difference to daily life.

This work matters beyond individual cases. Rural Fenland faces persistent challenges: limited transport, isolation, stretched family support and complex needs that don’t fit neat categories. By working alongside communities and local partners, Cambridgeshire ACRE helps ensure people aren’t missed by the system and that rural voices shape more accessible, compassionate solutions.

A moment that mattered to me

“A disabled woman was homeless and sofa‑surfing, at risk of ending up on the streets. I worked with the local council and estate agents to secure a safe bedsit, giving her stability, safety and the foundation she needed to rebuild her life.”
