As a Macmillan Village Agent, I make sure no one in Fenland has to face cancer alone.

People affected by cancer feel less isolated and better able to cope when they have emotional and practical support close to home. My work helps people in Fenland feel supported, informed and less alone during an incredibly challenging time.

I provide one‑to‑one support and facilitate local support groups for people affected by cancer. I also raise awareness of cancer signs, symptoms and screening to encourage early detection. By offering support within communities, I help remove barriers that prevent people accessing help.

At a system level, rural isolation, transport challenges and distance from hospital services make cancer support harder to reach. Cambridgeshire ACRE helps bridge this gap by bringing trusted, local support into rural communities, improving access and outcomes for people who might otherwise struggle to get help.

A moment that mattered to me

“A client once told me, “This group is a lifesaver. Talking to others in the same situation makes me feel less alone.” It reinforced how powerful local, shared support can be for people living with cancer.”
