As Cambridgeshire ACRE’s Youth Support Worker, I help young people build confidence, direction and belief in their future.

Young people feel more confident, supported and able to work towards their goals when they have trusted adults around them. My work helps young people across Fenland feel seen, listened to and capable of taking positive steps in education, training and employment.

I support young people through weekly youth hubs, focusing on wellbeing, personal and social development, and encouraging engagement with learning and work opportunities. By being present, consistent and approachable, I create safe spaces where young people can talk openly, build confidence and get the right support when challenges arise.

This work matters because youth services in rural areas are often under‑resourced, yet the need is significant. Without accessible local support, young people can feel disconnected from opportunity. Cambridgeshire ACRE helps strengthen youth provision in Fenland so young people are not left behind due to geography or funding gaps.

A moment that mattered to me

“A young person I supported worked towards their goal of joining the Army. After studying uniformed services at college, they secured a place in the King’s Troop. Seeing them achieve something they worked so hard for was incredibly rewarding.”
