Bacon butties and big conversations: Mayor Paul Bristow visits the Benwick Community Hub

We were delighted to recently welcome Paul Bristow, Mayor of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, to the Benwick Community Lounge – one of the many volunteer-led spaces within the Cambridgeshire Community Hubs Network.

Mayor, Paul Bristow, with the Hub’s lead volunteer, Sean Lowry.

During his visit, Mayor Bristow met with volunteers and attendees, enjoyed a bacon butty, and shared a few words about the vital role these hubs play in rural life. He highlighted how peer support, connection and community-led initiatives are essential for keeping our villages vibrant and resilient.

His recognition of the dedication and impact of our volunteers was deeply appreciated. It’s moments like these that remind us why these hubs matter – not just as places, but as people-powered networks of care and connection.
