Anglian Waterways Volunteer scheme launched

Cambridgeshire ACRE has worked in partnership with the Environment Agency to develop the Anglian Waterways Volunteer Scheme and we are now ready to recruit 10 volunteers who will support aspects of the day-to-day running of two Environment Agency pilot sites at the Denver Complex (near Downham Market) and Northampton Marina.

Representing the Environment Agency, the new volunteers will be an important source of information for boaters using the waterways. They will help with many aspects of Environment Agency work, so the tasks will always be varied.

Volunteers will learn how waterways are managed for public use, meet new people, acquire new skills, and make a valuable contribution to providing safe facilities and a warm welcome for boaters and other visitors alike. They will be given appropriate training as part of their induction to the scheme.

For more information either contact the Cambridgeshire ACRE scheme coordinator, Rachael Brown on 01353 865037 / The scheme has its on dedicated website which can be viewed here.
