Project Support Officer (New Life on the Old West)

The New Life on the Old West project aims to connect communities around the Cambridgeshire Fens Old West River with their local natural heritage, and increase resilience of the landscape through small-scale interventions on community green spaces, arable farmland and within the ditch network.

Cambridgeshire ACRE has received £99,000 funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund for the New Life on the Old West project, allowing us to develop this project throughout 2018, working towards a full grant application of £729,900 to deliver the project from 2019 until 2022.

This role will support our established Project Officer in co-ordinating the development of the New Life on the Old West Project and ensuring the timely submission of the Heritage Lottery Fund Second Stage Application. This will include working with parish councils to develop ideas and plans for habitat improvements on community green spaces, developing programmes of volunteering and citizen science, giving input to plans for community engagement, learning and skills development, delivering consultation activity, assisting with promoting and marketing the project and taking care of project administration.

The successful applicant is likely to be looking to gain practical experience in conservation, countryside or heritage management will enjoy working as part of a small team and be keen to learn new skills to add to their CV. To be the right fit for this role, you‘ll need strong interpersonal skills, excellent IT skills, creativity, the ability to talk confidently to a wide range of people at all levels and first-class written skills.
